SPG provides professional planning services for both private and public clients through a range of subdivision, development and land use activities. SPG often acts as the lead consultant or project manager throughout the formulation and environmental reporting phases of a project, through to the successful conclusion of obtaining the necessary statutory approvals.
SPG services include:

- Policy formulation including preparation of Regional and District Plan changes;
- Preparation of Notice of Requirements and Outline Plans on behalf of Requiring Authorities;

Resource Management Act

SPG formulates resource consent applications for land use and subdivision consents under various District Plans and Regional Plans which has included:

SPG has the experience and expertise to undertake the full ambit of policy related work under the Resource Management Act 1991, such services include:
- Preparing private plan changes
- Providing expert evidence on plan changes
- Compiling planning reports and Section 32 analysis
- Preparing/presenting planning reports and expert evidence for Council and Environment Court hearings
SPG has also provided planning advice and undertaken designation work on behalf of the Queenstown Lakes District Council for a number of designated sites within the Queenstown Lakes District.
SPG has been involved in a range of concession applications throughout different Department of Conservation Conservancies in the South Island. Such concession applications generally revolve around authorising scenic helicopter landings, heli-skiing, guided walks, commercial filming and ski-field development.
On a strategic planning level, SPG has provided advice and expert evidence for clients in relation to the policy development of the Department of Conservation’s National Park Management Plans and Conservation Management Strategies.
SPG has experience in obtaining a large number of Recreation Permits pursuant to Section 66A of the Land Act 1948. Activities that SPG has assisted in authorising include scenic helicopter landings, heli-skiing, guided walks and commercial filming.
