SPG undertook a lead role within a large consultant team in terms of gaining resource consent for the Camp Glenorchy Eco Retreat. 

Developed by Paul and Debbie Brainerd, Camp Glenorchy is New Zealand's first net zero sustainable property, having been designed, built and engineered in line with the philosophy and principles of the Living Building Challenge

Reducing the environmental impact of Camp Glenorchy through the adoption of sustainable design philosophies and operating practices is one of the key goals of the applicant.

From an architectural perspective, Camp Glenorchy has been designed as a collection of buildings that not only befits their intended function and environmental philosophy, but provides an aesthetic and scale that is appropriate to the character and setting of the site, the Glenorchy Township and wider surrounding environment.

Camp Glenorchy is unique in that all profits from its operations go into a community trust which is designed to benefit the local Glenorchy community. After a publicly notified process, resource consent was obtained for the client.
