Alpine Guides Limited

Alpine Guides was first established in 1966 as "Alpine Instruction Ltd". The main business was running instruction courses out of Ball Hut at Mt Cook, but the company's roots stretch back to the great NZ guiding era of the 1880's to 1950's.

The Hermitage guides of the Mt Cook area established a tradition of professional service, technical skill, and sound judgment - which Alpine Guides carries through to today. Alpine Guides Limited offer a professional, personalized, and reliable guiding service - with unsurpassed support from their base. Their mountaineering trips are based on realistic goals, within realistic time frames - given the weather, conditions, and terrain of the Southern Alps.

Alpine Guides Limited, while based at Aoraki/Mt Cook, guide throughout the lower South Island including; Mt Aspiring National Park, Westland National Park, Fiordland National Park, Aoraki/Mt Cook National Park, The Remarkables Mountain Range, The Arrowsmith Range and across the wider Mackenzie region from the Ahuriri to Lake Tekapo.

SPG has assisted Alpine Guides Limited by obtaining Department of Conservation Concessions for their guiding activities in Westland, Fiordland, and Aoraki/Mt Cook, including for the incredibly popular Tasman Glacier heli-hikes

SPG has also assisted Alpine Guides Limited with submissions on Department of Conservation Management Plans such as the review of the Westland and Aoraki/Mt Cook National Park Management Plans to ensure that the provisions continue to enable their activities within these spectacular parts of New Zealand into the future.
